Who Said
It’s Not Easy Being Green?
In
an effort to become more “earth friendly,” Anniston Museum is
going green. The Museum is working to become more energy smart
to reduce our impact on the environment. Keeping unused spaces
closed and dark, adjusting thermostats, reducing water
consumption where possible, and recycling and reusing a variety
of materials are just a few simple but important steps that
Museum staff have implemented in recent months.
Now you can join the Museum staff in an exciting new campaign to
reduce waste, and reuse and conserve energy and natural
resources. It’s something so simple anyone can do it, and if
everyone did, the impact on our environment would be tremendous.
What is it? It’s
using a reusable shopping bag … really! Each year, Americans use
30 billion plastic and 10 billion paper grocery bags. According
to the National Resources Defense Council, the production of
these bags requires 14 million trees and 12 million barrels of
oil. And less than 2 percent of the bags are ever recycled,
leaving the remainder to sit in landfills, pollute waterways and
generate harmful greenhouse gases.
Now you can conserve more of our precious natural resources and
help the Museum at the same time by purchasing and reusing a
very special grocery/shopping bag. This bag features a spacious
interior with reinforced carrying handles and the Museum’s
“green” logo proudly displayed on the front of the bag. Be the
first to join the Museum’s “go green” effort by purchasing one
either in person in the Museum Store, or electronically in our
on-line store. Bags are only $5 each.
Turns out, being green isn’t that hard after all. |
